Stochastic formulations of optical flow algorithms under variable brightness conditions

چکیده
In this paper, we examine optical ow methods applicable under variable brightness conditions. In particular, we develop a stochastic formulation of Gennert and Negah-daripour's optical ow algorithm. Our model is shown to be well-posed and thus can be used in both simulating and estimating velocity elds with certain known stochastic properties. This model is used to simulate ow elds of diier-ent physical properties, and Gennert and Negahdaripour's method is demonstrated to work well for these synthesized elds under variable brightness conditions.

A comparative study between two numerical solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations
The present study aimed to investigate two numerical solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations. For this purpose, the mentioned flow equations were written in two different formulations, namely (i) velocity-pressure and (ii) vorticity-stream function formulations. Solution algorithms and boundary conditions were presented for both formulations and the efficiency of each formulation was investiga...
متن کاملThree Hybrid Metaheuristic Algorithms for Stochastic Flexible Flow Shop Scheduling Problem with Preventive Maintenance and Budget Constraint
Stochastic flexible flow shop scheduling problem (SFFSSP) is one the main focus of researchers due to the complexity arises from inherent uncertainties and also the difficulty of solving such NP-hard problems. Conventionally, in such problems each machine’s job process time may encounter uncertainty due to their relevant random behaviour. In order to examine such problems more realistically, fi...
متن کاملAn Estimation-based Approach to the Reconstruction of Optical Flow
The problem of reconstructing the apparent velocity field (optical flow) in a sequence of images is formulated as a linear estimation problem. Estimation-based interpretations are provided for well-known formulations and methods, allowing us to use the machinery of recursive estimation theory to construct both new and efficient algorithms for these problems and a flexible framework for the deve...
متن کاملRobust Brightness Description for Computing Optical Flow
Most optical flow algorithms are based on the assumption of brightness constancy of individual pixels while moving on the image plane. Although being attractive analytically, this assumption is often violated under non-ideal visual conditions resulting in poor flow estimates. This paper presents an approach to support the validity of the assumption under such conditions. The method describes th...
متن کاملLearning Optical Flow
Assumptions of brightness constancy and spatial smoothness underlie most optical flow estimation methods. In contrast to standard heuristic formulations, we learn a statistical model of both brightness constancy error and the spatial properties of optical flow using image sequences with associated ground truth flow fields. The result is a complete probabilistic model of optical flow. Specifical...
